Built by an engineer who cared about the details

building ChangeBG in public

I built this AI background remover because I couldn't find one that consistently preserved the details that matter — hair, transparent objects, soft edges, reflections, and difficult backgrounds.

Instead of launching with dozens of features, I focused on getting one thing right: removing image backgrounds with results I'd actually trust in production.

This is the first capability in a larger image AI toolkit I'm building in public. Every feature is driven by real workflows, not assumptions.

If this tool saves you time — or if it doesn't — I genuinely want to hear about it. Your feedback will shape what gets built next.

Common questions

Pets Background Removal FAQ

Does this work on other animals besides cats and dogs? +

Yes, the BiRefNet model is trained on a massive range of biological entities, including birds, horses, and wildlife.

What if the background color matches the pet's fur? +

The deep neural network identifies spatial features, not just color boundaries, separating similar tones cleanly.
